Big Brother Canada Recap: Episode 29

Big Brother Canada Recap

The Best Worst Ending Possible

The first season of Big Brother Canada came to an end last night and we finally found out who would take home the grand prize. To find out who, where, what, why and when keep reading.

Head of Household

The last Head of Household competition of the season is the most important. It is a three part challenge that spans more than one day and the winner would have the privilege of choosing who they would go up against in the final two.

Part One

Competition: No Blood On My Hands

The first part of the three part HoH competition was a stamina challenge and the winner would get a free pass to the third part of the challenge. Each contestant had to stand on a platform, on top of a air ball, and hold a pole that kept a bucket of "blood" from falling on their heads. The bucket ended up being a lot heavier than the contestants thought and after four plus hours Emmet was the last person standing.

Winner: Emmet

Part Two

Competition: Big Brother Big Top

The second of the three challenges was a timed physical challenge that only Jillian and Gary would compete in. The game was basically a giant game of ring toss. Each ring had a name of a previous HoH winner and they had to throw them on to the numbered cone that corresponds with when the player was HoH. The only thing standing between the rings and the cones was set of monkey bars that hey had to cross in order to get back and forth. The game wasn't close and even with a 30 second penalty Gary beat Jillian by four minutes.

Winner: Gary

Part Three

Competition: Pre-Game Strategy True or False

The third challenge, between Emmet and Gary, was a simple true or false game. Arisa would give a quote from some of the evicted house guests interviews from before the season started and the contestants had to figure out whether the quote was actually said by the player. It was tied until the last question with Gary ending up as the winner and the person with the most poer in the house.

Winner: GARY!

In Memoriam

Emmet

The Incredible Milk, you were one of my favorites to win and it was sad to see you go but in keeping Gary you sealed your fate. The only person that could beat you in a physical challenge should have been the first to go. You never said much and you honestly had the whole house on your side at one point in the game or another, as one of the biggest threats that is a huge accomplishment. You got rid of exactly who you needed to, exactly when it was necessary and that is why you got so far in the game. You can leave the game knowing that it was less a mistake and more Gary's great last minute move that ended your game. Farewell Milkman.

GLITTER GARY

This is the second time in my recaps that I have had to write one of these for Gary and just to keep this post a little short I will link to that post here. But as long as were here I would like to repeat one of my sentiments from the last Gary 'In Memoriam' and that is that you are such a great role model and it is only a compliment to what kind of person you are that you came into this house, were exactly who you are and ended up one messed up vote away from winning it all. Congratulations on your victory in life and in the Big Brother house.

Big Brother Canada Season 1 Winner

Jillian

After ten long weeks, a lot of backstabbing and a couple on controversial moments we finally have the winner of the first season of Big Brother Canada. She was one of the best competition players and had a decent social game. She was part of a visible two person alliance the whole game and wasn't nominated once. She was never anyone's target and although she was the reason for most of the jury members being evicted she still had three solid votes and only needed one person to mess up in order for her to win. All in all she deserved the win for playing a strong, smart game. The circumstances may have been a little controversial but in order to be one of the final two you had to have done something right.

Controversy

So I have hinted at a little controversy that took place on the finale and I just wanted to get my two cents out in the air.

If you didn't watch last night during the the final vote in which the Jury votes for who they want to win(as opposed to voting for who they want evicted which they have done all season), Topaz mistakenly(?) made her vote for Jillian. After Arisa read Topaz's vote aloud Topaz jumped out of her seat in the Jury box and walked over to Arisa, on live TV, and told her that there was a mistake and that someone had changed her vote. After a commercial break we were shown video proving that in fact Topaz had chosen Jillian's key and placed it in the nomination box. To the dismay of every Gary fan in Canada and Topaz herself (who asked to redo the vote on numerous occasions) that one vote was the deciding one and ended up making Jillian the winner.

Here are my thoughts on that whole situation:

- I think Topaz was too excited and too focused on her speech and being on live TV that in the heat of the moment she just picked the wrong key. The whole "150%" thing just made her look real bad.

- The fact that she wanted to redo the votes or that some fans think that if Emmet or Talla had made that mistake Big Brother would have allowed it is ludicrous. Since the very first season of Big Brother U.S. this has always been the way the finale worked and I'm almost positive that the Jury members were explained it by the producers again before the live show.

- When Topaz was evicted Arisa made it seem as though Topaz was a student of the game and had watched many seasons of the U.S. version but I think this just proves otherwise. Any person that has watched more then one season of any of the Big Brother seasons know that the final vote is for the person you want to win. It's even the case in other reality shows like Survivor.

Random Thoughts

- Is it just me or did Part one of the last HoH competition look like a scene from Dexter?

- The Jury house fire scene proved to me just how smart Peter, Alec and Andrew were and how Talla, AJ, and Topaz had nothing to say ever or were just uninteresting.

- The final part of the HoH competition was a little upsetting since it was basically a guessing game. Even if they grew to knew the other house guests how would they be able to know what each persons strategy coming into the game.

- This time I'm sure Gary dropped on F bomb on live TV.

- I'm not sure how the Jury questions were done but it seemed like some were written for them (Talla) and it seems like others were completely there own doing (Peter). I wonder if they had to be approved by producers beforehand?

- Peter's question to Jillian was easily the best one of the night and on top of the great Q, he also called her Villian. Great name.

- I know it was due to a lack of time and the show being live but I think the fact that the last chance pleas from the contestants were rushed made it more dynamic. Big Brother US should think about rushing there final two.

- I wonder if they started saying Glitter Gary in the final episode because there is actually somebody who calls himself Gary Glitter who is pretty famous. I don't remember them ever calling him Glitter Gary before.

- The returning non-jury members of the cast were there and didn't add much to anything, much like their time in the house. Who's Kat?

Running Cast Grade: C+
(Last Episode: C+)

The first season ended with a bang and whether or not you agree with who won is pointless because the season and the finale were full of great moments. If you look back to the first Big Brother US i'm sure you can find faults and things you don't like but it was the beginning of something great and it took more then one season for it to catch on. When you take into consideration the fact that the first season of Big Brother Canada was way better than the first US season then you have to see a bright future for this franchise, well at least I do.

*Programming note: I will be doing a Big Brother Canada season recap this weekend that will be posted either late this weekend or early next week.

Big Brother Canada Recap: Episode 28

Big Brother Canada Recap

The Night Before The End

The second last episode of the season has all the makings for a great episode filled with tension. There is four players left and only three will go on to Thursday's finale, which means the house guests are in for a surprise eviction (Arisa told us that Sunday). Who is going to win the Veto and secure themselves safely in the final three? And now that we are so close, who is going to win it all?

In Memoriam
(Remembering the evicted house guest.)

Talla

LOVE IT! Arisa kept trying to make us believe that you were a lot more cunning than you let on. She told us more then once that you knew what you were doing in the game and must have been playing dumb the whole time. I would love to believe her but I saw far too much of Talla "playing dumb" and very little cunning and strategic Talla. Your drunk lap dances, Topaz kisses and tirades made the season a little more enjoyable. Drunk Talla, Angry Talla and Zombie Talla, all took turns entertaining Canada and you will all be missed. Thank you Talla for showing us people from Alberta can be as brain dead as anyone from Canada.

Power of Veto
(Winning the Power of Veto means you can change one of the nominations.)

Competition: Safe From Eviction

The premise of this game is to open the safe to earn the Veto. The combination for the safe has to be found by using Big Brother equations (Tom's HoH's + the day Danielle was nominated =?) and then find a money bag with the corresponding number. After the players has the three money bags with the three numbers they can go and try their combination in the safe.

Winner: Emmet

Ceremony: Emmet didn't use the Power of Veto, keeping the nominations the same.

Random Thoughts
(Here are some of my random thoughts.)

- I don't know why anyone ever says they feel safe on this show. No one is ever safe in Big Brother.

- I think this is the first episode where they bleeped a caption of the F-word.

- Jillian has been playing for her and Emmet while Emmet has always been playing for himself and if he takes Gary to the final 2 I wouldn't be surprised if Jillian strangles him to death.

- Talla thought 4=3=5 all through high school?

- The best move in the game might have been Emmet giving Talla Dan's bracelet. Even if he doesn't get her vote in the end it was a great play. It's like a hail Mary that is still flying through the air and we will have to wait until tonight to find out if it is a touchdown or not.

Running Cast Grade: C+
(Last Episode: C)
(Grading the cast on an episode to episode basis.)

The last episode is nearing and as for entertainment value, we have none. The closest thing that could possibly become contentious is if Emmet decides to take Gary to the final two over Jillian. For Emmet's game it is probably the best move but if he actually has feelings for her and wants a future, it's definitely not his best move. Emmet is my pick for winner but Jillian or Gary could steal it by winning the next HoH and evicting him or simply by outgunning him in the final speeches to the jury. If I was to guess I would say that tonight's finale will be good but not great, unless the Jury decide to be pricks and bring the big guns. But then again Canadians are way too nice and will all probably say thanks for the memories and then that'll be it. Can we please get a Jury fist fight or something?

T.T.T.TV. (May 1)

Tonight's Top Three on TV

Spies, Psychics and Canadians

1. The Americans (FX 10/9c)

The season finale is finally here. What is going to happen? Is it the end of Directorate S? Is Nina going to get revenge on Stan? If she does, will she survive the rest of the episode after admitting to the betrayal of her country? Will the fake wedding blow up in Phillips face? Where does this season end?

It sucks that this means that we will have to wait a whole year before we get more Americans but at least it got a second season and didn't have a fate like Terriers or Lights Out.

2. Psych (USA Network 10/9c)

Shawn Spencer is running for Mayor, do I need to say anything else?

3. Big Brother Canada (Slice 8/7c)

Ladies and gentlemen the inaugural season of Big Brother Canada is coming to an end this week and with that being said, watch it! In order for me to get on a subsequent edition this season needs to have really good ratings. So for the 12 people that will read this post, tune in to the last few episodes of season 1 of Big Brother Canada. Do it for me.

I will be doing this post Sunday to Thursday because there is nothing good on TV Friday and Saturday. If you want to follow me on Twitter or send me some feedback follow me at @AJ_Trevor

Big Brother Canada Recap: Episode 27

Big Brother Canada Recap

Life After Andrew

We are now speeding towards the finish line with the final four. Emmet and Jillian have been in complete control of the house since Alec was evicted and they have made the East Coast alliance. Talla still has no idea what it means to be in the final three and Gary is more interested in what he looks like then how he is playing the game. There is a week left and if you are a fan of the show hold on and keep watching because even if the finale is lackluster we want the ratings to be high enough to get a second season.

Head of Household
(The HoH has all the power in the house.)

Jillian

Jillian earned the HoH power by getting as many true or false questions as both Talla and Gary wrong. The competition ended in a tiebreaker and like pretty much the rest of the contest Jillian won by guessing better than Gary or Talla, which I don't know if that sort of circumstance should ever be rewarded. She got the ire of the house because they had to see her HoH room for the fourth time but really should they be mad at her or mad at themselves for not winning more competitions. Jillian used her power to make a (fake) final two deal with Talla and also securing the idea that she will not go to the final two with Emmet when she clearly is only taking Emmet. When the season ends if she is in the final two I hope the jury can overlook her broken promises and see how good of a game she played when it came to the competition side of things.
Nominees
(The two players currently nominated for eviction.)

Gary - I don't know who is the pawn and who is the target this week and at this point the only person who can decide that is the person who wins the Power of Veto (if it isn't the HoH). Gary looks to have the best chance if Emmet wins the PoV but if Talla wins her first competition it could be the end of Gary.

Talla - If Talla decided to win her first competition she could control her fate going into the final three. The more likely thing that will happen is that Talla will not win the PoV and end up just floating her way to the Jury house.
Big Brother Canada Awards
(Canada voted on some of the best moments this season.)

Best House Entrance
Nominees: Talla Walks in Backwards & Gary says Hi to Danielle's big boobs
Winner: Talla walks down the stairs backwards

Best Costume
Nominees: Andrew's French Maid & Jillian Evil Dead Outfit
Winner: Andrew's French Maid

Best Freak Out
Nominees: Suzette on Aneal & Talla 1-9-1-9-9
Winner: Talla 1-9-1-9-9

Best Alter Ego
Nominees: Gary as Zoe Winbur & Alec as Ricardo
Winner: Gary as Zoe Winbur

Best Kiss
Nominees: Emmet and Jillian & Andrew and AJ
Winner: Andrew and AJ

Best Dramatic Cry
Nominees: Aneal's Sympathy Cry & Gary Goes on Slop
Winner: Gary Goes on Slop

Random Thoughts
(Here are some of my random thoughts.)

- The HoH competition this week was pretty much a guessing game, unless you want to believe Talla that she was the only one who knew the actual answers.

- Emmet is the most self aware person in the house and the way he played Talla after she got upset was the reason he should win this season.

Running Cast Grade: C
(Last Week: C)
(Grading the cast on an episode to episode basis.)

I don't know about you, but I already know who I want to win and it is pretty simple at this point. The winner of Big Brother Canada should be Emmet and there is no arguing unless you have decided who to root for based solely on who you like more. Emmet has played the best social game, he has had more alliances than anyone and hasn't really burnt any bridges or gotten any blood on his hands. Not only that but he has played one of the best physical games as well winning HoH more times than anyone except for Jillian. If he doesn't make it to the finale I will be shocked and won't root for any of the other people who really don't deserve it.

Big Brother Canada Recap: Episode 22

Big Brother Canada Recap

Tantrums, Veto's and Familial Love

The episode before this was pretty boring and since nothing has really changed I imagine this episode will be lackluster as well. The best way they could have spiced things up was to bring the Jury member back before the Veto contest so that they could actually play the game and not fall into the house as the fifth man/woman on the totem pole. But they wont so we have to sit through another episode of Jillian and Emmet making plans to make babies and stuff like that.

Power of Veto
(Winning the Power of Veto means you can change one of the nominations.)

Competition: Sleep Tight

This contest is a three round, elimination obstacle course. After each round the last person to finish will be eliminated from the competition. The first round is having to brush some sticky green stuff off of a giant mouth. Emmet, Andrew and Jillian were the first three to finish only to find out that the little help that Emmet gave to Jillian is enough to get him DQ'd from the competition which allowed Peter to slide into the next round. The second round is a sliding puzzle and is easily won by Andrew and Jillian. The third and last round is a find a sheep with a star on it and then climb up a mattress mountain and jump into a bed to win. Andrew ended up taking the third round without breaking a sweat and on top of winning the Veto he also won a $10,000 gift certificate to the Brick.

Winner: Andrew

Ceremony: Andrew used the Veto to save himself and Jillian nominated Talla in his place.

Nominees
(The two players currently nominated for eviction.)

Peter - It looks like the end for the "smartest" player in the game and unless he can convince Jillian and Emmet to keep him which is very unlikely.

Talla - Another week and another week(couple of days tops) of Talla being a pawn. She might not like it but it's not like she has any choice or could do anything about it if she was given a choice.

Phone Booth Challenge
(Once and awhile the house is given a challenge, secret or otherwise, in order to earn a reward.)

Freeze

Whenever the Big Brother voice artist would come onto the speakers and tell everyone to freeze, well, they had to freeze in place and not move until the BBVA told them they could unfreeze. It wasn't too difficult of a challenge and there was only one time they came close to losing. If they succeeded in freezing every time they were told too they would win a big reward but if they failed they would get punished.

Luckily they survived however long this mission went on for, even when the distractions started to enter the house. First was a sumo wrestler, who stomped around moaning. Then came the cheerleaders who danced around each player cheering there name. But the hardest distraction and the only one I thought someone would break from is when Pete, Andrews twin brother, showed up and made Andrew start bawling.

In the end they succeeded in there mission and they each won a video call with there family back home.

Random Thoughts
(Here are some of my random thoughts.)

- I think it's funny that the oldest member of the house cannot approach a serious topic with another house guest unless he phrases it as a joke. C'mon Andrew.

- Whenever Talla talks strategy with anyone, the conversation pretty much always turns into Talla repeating everything the other player is saying.

- Emmet losing his mind after being disqualified reminded me of that kid in gym class who is so competitive that almost all games ended with a fight, especially dodge ball. I wonder how good Emmet is at dodge ball?

- Peter is definitely a sore loser but wouldn't you be too if you lost a competition that secures your exit from the game?

- Jillian calling Peter a sore loser is hilarious coming from the worst winner in Big Brother history (after Gary of course). Do you not remember you're Brock Lesner cage freak out in the last HoH competition?

- I think it's crazy that if you a considered smart on reality TV that any little stumble or trouble with a certain thing (like a sliding puzzle) will earn you so much ridicule.

- I wonder what else is on Peter's bucket list. I imagine it's stuff like: Catch and kill a chicken with his bare hands  Become a heel on a WWE show. And probably something like, try and take over the world.

Running Cast Grade: C
(Last Episode: C+)
(Grading the cast on an episode to episode basis.)

Like I said at the top, the best thing they could have done for entertainment purposes was to bring the returning jury member earlier but instead we got a week with Jillian and Emmet groping each other, Andrew being old, Talla's incessant screaming and Peter being the loner. There wasn't any conflict(unless you count Emmet holding his hands out for an hour after the Veto competition) and there wasn't even any good interactions between the house guests. The only reason this grade stayed in the C''s this week is because Andrew and his twin brother made me cry. But for the future, I want less crying on Big Brother and more drunken fighting and debauchery.

T.T.T.TV. (April 10)

Tonight's Top Three on TV

Spies, Psychics and Some Canadians

1. The Americans (FX 10/9c)

After one of their own get killed he FBI are on a mission to capture(or kill) any KGB spy that they can get their hands on. It looks like Elisabeth's American helpers are going to be in the line of fire this week, although Philip is the one who is getting the knock on the hotel door. (Also it is made look like it's the FBI knocking at his door but that could just be some good editing.)

2. Psych (USA Network 10/9c)

Lassie is getting married but doesn't want a bachelor party. What? Whaaaat? You and I both know that Shawn and Gus won't let this opportunity go to waste. They kidnap Lassie and set out on what ca only be a hilarious series of events.

3. Big Brother Canada (Slice 8/7c)

Now that Jillian broke her promise to Topaz one can only assume there will be some bad blood in the Big Brother Canada house. Not only that but I hope the Shield (or The S.H.I.E.L.D.) won't go down without a fight. Only one of them needs to win the Power of Veto (although Topaz winning it would secure the votes for their alliance). With the end of the season coming pretty fast now is the point in the game where one mistake will get you out of the house and Alec's propensity to make deals might be his downfall.

I will be doing this post Sunday to Thursday because there is nothing good on TV Friday and Saturday. If you want to follow me on Twitter or send me some feedback follow me at @AJ_Trevor

T.T.T.TV. (April 3)

Tonight's Top Three on TV

Spies, Psychics and Canadians

1. The Americans (FX 10/9c)

A mission goes awry and Philip and Elizabeth are looking over their shoulders. During one of the many podcasts I listen to, TV critic Andy Greenwald, teased that this is the biggest episode of The Americans so far. I don't know what he means by biggest but I am certainly excited to find out.

2. Psych (USA Network 10/9c)

Shawn, Gus and Gus' girlfriends son, take a trip to the circus and that only means one thing, cotton candy! Oh, and there will probably be a murder or crime for them to solve. I hope it doesn't involve clowns, I hate clowns.

3. Big Brother Canada (Slice 8/7c)

The Canadian version of the hit reality TV show had it's best episode yet on Sunday. I can't really see it continue that run but I do have high hopes. I think we can expect Gary to let everyone know how he feels and hopefully Big Brother gets Talla drunk.

I will be doing this post Sunday to Thursday because there is nothing good on TV Friday and Saturday. If you want to follow me on Twitter or send me some feedback follow me at @AJ_Trevor

T.T.T.TV. (March 27)

Tonight's Top Three on TV

Shawn Spencer, Jeff Probst and Alec Beal...

1. Psych (USA Network 10/9c)

Another episode means another case for the not-so-psychic Shawn Spencer. The only difference this week is that it is the 100th episode, which means a whole bunch of gimmicks. The big one that has been previewed is that the fans can choose who is the killer in the end of the episode. I don't know if it will be a vote on Twitter or on their website what I do know is that I really don't care who the villain is as long as this episode is as funny or funnier than the previous 99.

2. Survivor (CBS 8/7c)

The tribes were all switched up last week and one tribe is still obviously a lot better off than the other one. The young, attractive tribe looks to have the upper hand and can probably run the table until the merge. The only thing that looks like it could change the game is this so called "plan" that Malcolm has to take over. Will he be able to or will that just put a target on his back.

3. Big Brother Canada (Slice 8/7c)

The inaugural season of the Canadian version of the hit reality TV show, where a number of random strangers have to live in a house together for a couple months. The premise is simple and can be executed at a high level if you have the right mix of people but considering this is the first time it has made it into the T.T.T.TV. they really haven't hit there stride. The lack of controversy and confrontation has really limited the amount of excitement I have for this show but since there is really not that much else on TV tonight I suggest you check it out.

I will be doing this post Sunday to Thursday because there is nothing good on TV Friday and Saturday. If you want to follow me on Twitter or send me some feedback follow me at @AJ_Trevor

Big Brother Canada: Grading the Cast

Big Brother Canada

Grading the Cast

I have decided that because I love Big Brother so much that I will use the little info that I can find on the interweb to predict and grade how the cast of the first ever Canadian edition of Big Brother will do. Since all the house guests have already been sequestered and there are no video interviews (like Big Brother US does), all I have to go on are pictures, an ET Canada clip and a written Q&A session from the Slice.ca website. Here goes nothing.

My Favorites:

Andrew Monaghan

Province: Halifax
Age: 38
Occupation: Insurance Sales Trainer
First Impression: He is the "old guy" in the group. He seems to have a good sense of humor and will probably make friends easily, even if he is 10 to 15 years older then most of the house guests.
Best Quote: When ask if he would hide anything about himself he answered, "I will not show them my privates - I'm a respectable man."
Prediction: If he gets on the inside with the younger players Andrew will most likely last a long time. I could see him being one of the last five.

Emmet Blois

Province: Nova Scotia
Age: 25
Occupation: Dairy Farmer
First Impression: Meat head  jock. He will be great in physical challenges but I don't know how well he will do if has to win an endurance or mental challenge.
Best Quote: "The mental challenges will be tough."
Prediction: He reminds me a lot of Hayden from Big Brother 12 (US). He seems really nice and I believe that if he can join an alliance that is willing to do the dirty work for him, he has a very good shot of winning the whole game.

Alec Beall

Province: BC
Age: 26
Occupation: Social Psychological Research/Doctoral Student
First Impression: Smart guy. Thinks his PhD will help him in the game and probably won't be afraid to tell everyone he has a PhD.
Best Quote: "Dr. Will is my role model."
Prediction: If this guy can actually emulate Dr. Will's game I see him going very far. Besides Emmet, he is the only other person I'm sure has a shot to win.

Liza Stinton

Province: Ontario
Age: 29
Occupation: Tanning Salon Owner
First Impression: She is here to play the game. I don't think she will hold anything back. She looks fit, smart and mentally prepared.
Best Quote: "Lie until my lips can't lie anymore."
Prediction: Liza will go as far as she can as long as she can win competitions.

Danielle Alexandra

Province: Alberta
Age: 20
Occupation: Student
First Impression: Sweet, innocent country girl. Probably pretty manipulable. Seems like an an easy out or someone that will be loyal to the end but won't be a leader.
Best Quote: "I hate dirty people."
Prediction: If she follows her plan to have a secret alliance from the start and build from there I can see her making it into the top six or seven. For her to go any farther she will need to be at the top of her game.

I Just Don't Know

Aneal Joshua Ramkissoon

Province: Ontario
Age: 21
Occupation: Communications major
First Impression: Nerdy, Big Brother super fan. Someone who has the nickname AJ better do well by it.
Best Quote: "I also hate wet towels on Beds."
Prediction: I have no idea about Aneal. He could be out in the first few weeks, or he could make it very far and possibly play the Ian role from last season of Big Brother US.

If They Don't Find An Alliance They Could Be In Trouble:

Gary Levy

Province: Ontario
Age: 21
Occupation: Bartender/Artist/Stylist Assistant
First Impression: This guys is going to rub some people the wrong way. He will push buttons and thats going to be great.
Best Quote: "I love glitter so much! Everyone needs glitter."
Prediction: If he can secure himself a good alliance he will last, at least, a little while but if he is out on his own, he will be targeted. Gary cannot be a floater.

Peter Brown

Province: BC
Age: 26
Occupation: Web Content Curator
First Impression: This guy seems like a jerk. He seems like he thinks he is better than everyone and he is pretty confident that he is going to win. Did I mention he is a "Professional YouTuber."
Best Quote: When ask what his pet peeve was he answered, "People moving slowly. Walking on the street or an escalator, basically just slow people in general."
Prediction: I have a feeling he is going to do his best to be nice to people because as he says it "it's the most duplicitous thing I can do." If he seems as fake as he does in person as he does on my screen, he will rub people the wrong way and wont last long.

Thomas Plant

Province: Alberta
Age: 24
Occupation: Bartender and Firefighter
First Impression: He doesn't know what he is doing. He will be lost in the house and his ego wont let him rely on anyone.
Best Quote: When asked if he had a strategy going into the house he answered, "No I don't - I'm just going to totally wing it."
Prediction: If he, Peter and Gary were to form a secret alliance the first day, then all get their own alliances on the side, they could easily dominate the house. But they wont do that.

Floaters:

Talla Rajaei

Province: Alberta
Age: 26
Occupation: Independent Living Support Worker and Social Work Student
First Impression: Cute, could easily flirt her way through the game. Seems like she could get along well with the people in the house.
Best Quote: "I know how to get the job done."
Prediction: I don't know if this is the right category for Talla but I do think she even if she does join in an alliance she will be one of the coat tail riders.

Emerald "Topaz" Brady

Province: Ontario
Age: 27
Occupation: Part-time Dental Hygienist and Full-time Student
First Impression: Why would you give yourself the nickname Topaz if your real name is Emerald? Not exotic enough for you?
Best Quote: "I think the physical challenges would be the most difficult for me."
Prediction: She wont be someone who dominates challenges and I doubt she will be a big shit disturber. So I imagine the easiest groove for her to fall into would be floater.

Kat Yee

Province: Ontario
Age: 27
Occupation: Bartender
First Impression: Another good looking girl, but will her game match her looks?
Best Quote: "You wanna be liked but not too liked."
Prediction: She doesn't want to be too liked. I bet she doesn't even want to be noticed really either. Can you say Jenn? (Oh you don't remember Jenn from Big Brother 14? Don't worry neither does anyone else.)

Jillian MacLaughlin

Province: 27
Age: Nova Scotia
Occupation: Teacher
First Impression: Happiest looking person on the cast. She seems like she will be in the game just for the experience.
Best Quote: Her biggest pet peeve is "When people mock me for being healthy."
Prediction: Jillian will only go as far as the coat tails she is riding. I can see it going one of two ways: 1. She hooks up with Thomas and the become the Shane and Danielle of BBC or 2. She gets in a good female alliance but doesn't actually win anything or make a big move.

First Ones Gone:

Suzette Amaya

Province: BC
Age: 36
Occupation: Support Worker, Radio Producer and Host, Motivational Speaker
First Impression: The oldest lady in the cast, she doesn't seem to be in the best shape and that could be a problem in challenges.
Best Quote: "I'm an uber fan!"
Prediction: Being a huge fan of Big Brother should have given her the clue that the oldest and weakest usually go home first. It's sad to say but I do not think Suzette will make it out of the first show.

Anuj "AJ" Burman

Province: Ontario
Age: 32
Occupation: Director of Business Developmental
First Impression: Another guy who has the nickname AJ (AJ is my real name), really? He is a salesman and one of the oldest member of the cast. If he doesn't make friends fast it will be a quick exit for Anuj.
Best Quote: When asked to describe his perfect day he said, " I'd definitely be in Vegas at the Cosmopolitan Hotel."
Prediction: If he makes it out of the first two weeks he will have gotten extremely lucky. I don't see him making it passed week 4.

Overall Cast Grade: B+

There is a good mix of people in this cast and a lot of the people actually remind me of players from the American versions of the show. The diversity of the cast is something to be amazed with. Not only are there many different races but the age spectrum is pretty covered too. (Even though there isn't anyone over 40.) The amount of Canada that is represented is nice. There are 6 people from Ontario, 3 from BC and Alberta, and then there are 3 from the Maritimes. (The fact that there aren't anyone from the territories and Saskatchewan is understandable but not one Manitoban was interesting enough to make it. Come on...)

Even though I will not be on the show, and that has made me think of boycotting it altogether, I will be watching almost every episodes for two reasons: 1. If the show doesn't have good viewer ratings it wont get picked up for a second season and I will never get to win the whole game and 2. The cast actually looks pretty interesting. Well done Big Brother Canada.
