Big Brother Canada Recap: Episode 22

Big Brother Canada Recap

Tantrums, Veto's and Familial Love

The episode before this was pretty boring and since nothing has really changed I imagine this episode will be lackluster as well. The best way they could have spiced things up was to bring the Jury member back before the Veto contest so that they could actually play the game and not fall into the house as the fifth man/woman on the totem pole. But they wont so we have to sit through another episode of Jillian and Emmet making plans to make babies and stuff like that.

Power of Veto
(Winning the Power of Veto means you can change one of the nominations.)

Competition: Sleep Tight

This contest is a three round, elimination obstacle course. After each round the last person to finish will be eliminated from the competition. The first round is having to brush some sticky green stuff off of a giant mouth. Emmet, Andrew and Jillian were the first three to finish only to find out that the little help that Emmet gave to Jillian is enough to get him DQ'd from the competition which allowed Peter to slide into the next round. The second round is a sliding puzzle and is easily won by Andrew and Jillian. The third and last round is a find a sheep with a star on it and then climb up a mattress mountain and jump into a bed to win. Andrew ended up taking the third round without breaking a sweat and on top of winning the Veto he also won a $10,000 gift certificate to the Brick.

Winner: Andrew

Ceremony: Andrew used the Veto to save himself and Jillian nominated Talla in his place.

Nominees
(The two players currently nominated for eviction.)

Peter - It looks like the end for the "smartest" player in the game and unless he can convince Jillian and Emmet to keep him which is very unlikely.

Talla - Another week and another week(couple of days tops) of Talla being a pawn. She might not like it but it's not like she has any choice or could do anything about it if she was given a choice.

Phone Booth Challenge
(Once and awhile the house is given a challenge, secret or otherwise, in order to earn a reward.)

Freeze

Whenever the Big Brother voice artist would come onto the speakers and tell everyone to freeze, well, they had to freeze in place and not move until the BBVA told them they could unfreeze. It wasn't too difficult of a challenge and there was only one time they came close to losing. If they succeeded in freezing every time they were told too they would win a big reward but if they failed they would get punished.

Luckily they survived however long this mission went on for, even when the distractions started to enter the house. First was a sumo wrestler, who stomped around moaning. Then came the cheerleaders who danced around each player cheering there name. But the hardest distraction and the only one I thought someone would break from is when Pete, Andrews twin brother, showed up and made Andrew start bawling.

In the end they succeeded in there mission and they each won a video call with there family back home.

Random Thoughts
(Here are some of my random thoughts.)

- I think it's funny that the oldest member of the house cannot approach a serious topic with another house guest unless he phrases it as a joke. C'mon Andrew.

- Whenever Talla talks strategy with anyone, the conversation pretty much always turns into Talla repeating everything the other player is saying.

- Emmet losing his mind after being disqualified reminded me of that kid in gym class who is so competitive that almost all games ended with a fight, especially dodge ball. I wonder how good Emmet is at dodge ball?

- Peter is definitely a sore loser but wouldn't you be too if you lost a competition that secures your exit from the game?

- Jillian calling Peter a sore loser is hilarious coming from the worst winner in Big Brother history (after Gary of course). Do you not remember you're Brock Lesner cage freak out in the last HoH competition?

- I think it's crazy that if you a considered smart on reality TV that any little stumble or trouble with a certain thing (like a sliding puzzle) will earn you so much ridicule.

- I wonder what else is on Peter's bucket list. I imagine it's stuff like: Catch and kill a chicken with his bare hands  Become a heel on a WWE show. And probably something like, try and take over the world.

Running Cast Grade: C
(Last Episode: C+)
(Grading the cast on an episode to episode basis.)

Like I said at the top, the best thing they could have done for entertainment purposes was to bring the returning jury member earlier but instead we got a week with Jillian and Emmet groping each other, Andrew being old, Talla's incessant screaming and Peter being the loner. There wasn't any conflict(unless you count Emmet holding his hands out for an hour after the Veto competition) and there wasn't even any good interactions between the house guests. The only reason this grade stayed in the C''s this week is because Andrew and his twin brother made me cry. But for the future, I want less crying on Big Brother and more drunken fighting and debauchery.

Tonight's Top Three on TV

NBC All Night Long

1. Hannibal (NBC 10/9c)

The FBI agent, Jack Crawford, thinks the recovering coma patient helped her dad murder and eat the women they found dead in the first episode. Jack gets Hannibal to escort Abigail (coma girl) back to her house and when they get there they discover a copycat killer has murdered one of her friends. Will Hannibal contact Jack or will he take things into his own hands?

2. Community (NBC 8/7c)

Tonight's episode is called Intro to Knots, which tells me nothing about it and I couldn't find a trailer on YouTube so I really don't know what is going to happen this episode. But just for fun here are some predictions: Dean Pelton will wear a dress. Britta will Britta the episode and Troy and Abed will be the only cast members that make me laugh.

3. Parks and Recreation (NBC 9/8c & 9:30/8:30c)

Patton Oswalt is guest starring on one of the two episodes tonight and the best part of his appearance is a scene you wont see on the show but you can catch it on YouTube. Here he is filibusterering the local council meeting and his ideas are completely genius hopefully we get a little of this in the episode.

I will be doing this post Sunday to Thursday because there is nothing good on TV Friday and Saturday. If you want to follow me on Twitter or send me some feedback follow me at @AJ_Trevor

The Voice: Ranking The Teams

Ranking The Teams

The Battle Rounds Begin

With the battle rounds starting I am going to be taking a few different things into consideration. I will be looking at the choices of battle contestants, the picks of the winners, whether any of the coaches stole anyone and especially which adviser is the coolest.

1. Team Adam

Battles

Amber Carrington vs. Sasha Allen
Song: Try by Pink
Winner: Amber Carrington

Judith Hill vs. Karina Iglesias
Song: It's a Man's Man's Man's World by James Brown
Winner: Judith Hill

Michael Austin vs. Warren Stone
Song: My Kind of Party by Jason Aldean
Winner: Warren Stone

Stolen Artists: Caroline Glasser

Adam gets the first spot again this week because he kept his strongest singers and he stole the best singer available(besides Karina Iglesias). He had the best battle out of any of the teams (Judith vs Karina) and he probably has the adviser with best singing voice. If Adam can keep picking the best pairings and end up stealing another great artist he can position himself in a great place to win the whole season.

Best Performance: Judith Hill vs. Karina Iglesias

2.Team Usher

Battles

Jess Kellner vs. Taylor Beckham
Song: You Know I'm No Good by Amy Winehouse
Winner: Jess Kellner

Jeff Lewis vs. Josiah Hawley
Song: Roxanne by The Police
Winner: Josiah Hawley

Audrey Karrasch vs. Jamila Thompson
Not Shown on TV
Winner: Audrey Karrasch

Stolen Artists: None

Usher's team is easily the most underrated. The Jeff Lewis vs Josiah Hawley battle could make a case for second best battle round of the first week (your trophy is in the mail). He didn't steal any artists but that might be the best thing for him considering the talent that was let go. The only downfall of the first week of battle rounds was that he picked Jess Kellner over Taylor Beckham but he has Pharell as an adviser so he gets a pass on that one.

Best Performance: Jeff Lewis vs. Josiah Hawley

3. Team Blake

Battles

Holly Tucker vs. Michelle Raitzin
Song: Blown Away by Carrie Underwood
Winner: Holly Tucker

Christian Porter vs. The Swan Brothers
Song: Wont Back Down by Tom Petty
Winner: The Swan Brothers

Caroline Glasser vs. Danielle Bradbury
Song: Put Your Records On by Corrine Bailey Rae
Winner: Danielle Bradbury

Grace Askew vs. Trevor Davis
Not Shown on TV
Winner: Grace Askew

Stolen Artists: Taylor Beckham

Blake has the hardest decision so far, when he had to pick between Caroline Glasser and Danielle Bradbury and although he may have picked the better singer of that specific song I think he might have made a huge mistake in the long run. He still has Holly Tucker (front runner) and the Swan Brothers (incredible harmonies), plus he stole Taylor Beckham from Usher and could possibly end up with her in the next round.

Best Performance: Holly Tucker vs. Michelle Raitzin

4. Team Shakira

Battles

Garrett Gardner vs. J'Sun
Song: How You Like Me Now by The Heavy
Winner: Garrett Gardner

Tawnya Reynolds vs. Mark Andrews
Not Shown on TV
Winner: Tawnya Reynolds

Stolen Artists: Karina Iglesias, Sasha Allen

I thought about moving Shakira up to number three but the only thing good about her first two days of battle rounds was that she got the second and third best singer to have lost. Of the twelve battle rounds we were able to see (even the ones that weren't shown in full) there were maybe four artists that where worth stealing and Shakira ended up with two of them. Now when we get to see some of the best battles her steals will have all been used up. It's not looking too good for Shakira this year.

Best Performance: Garret Gardner vs. J'Sun

Tonight's Top Three on TV

Phillip Jennings, Shawn Spencer and Jeff Probst

1. The Americans (FX 10/9c)

A death of someone who was close to Elizabeth in Moscow and in order to deal with it she is going to have to put herself and her family in danger from both the FBI and the KGB. It also looks like agent Stan is having some trouble at home but his city apartment seems to be all good. Will his affair be the reason his wife loses it? Will Elizabeth succeed in her mission to kill a killer? You will have to watch in order to answer any of those questions, so do it!

2. Psych (USA Network 10/9c)

Juliet now knows Shawn's secret and is pretty upset that he has been lying to her since the first day they met. Shawn now has to go about his everyday fake-psychic ways while his secret could destroy his whole life. Shawn and Juliet are meant to be together so I don't think this will be the end of their relationship but it will be interesting to see how they keep them apart without ending his fake-psychic career.

3. Survivor (CBS 8/7c)

It looks like Dawn is losing it but that only can be good for Malcolm and the boys clubs. If Philip and Andrea can't control her than it could be over for the Specialist and his secret organization.

T.T.T.TV. (April 16)

Tonight's Top Three on TV

Reality TV Tuesday

1. The Voice (NBC 8/7c)

The first couple of battles were hit and miss(happily mostly hits). Since there are still some artists that I'm excited to see I think the battle rounds can only get better. I'm assuming that there will be three performances tonight and I think with the artists left in play we could be in for a terrific night of sing-to-the-death type of performances(no one dies). Side Note: My Voice Rankings will be happening every Wednesday after the two episodes of the week,

2. Hell's Kitchen (Fox 8/7c)

Last episode we left off with Chef Ramsay calling up four chefs and taking all there jackets. Will he eliminate all four? Or will he just switch them all teams? It's probably the latter since it's still early in the season but you shouldn't be surprised if Gordon Ramsay does anything out of the ordinary.

3. Robot Combat League (Syfy 10/9c)

Yes, this is exactly what it sounds like. Two people control (one the lower body, the other the upper body) a seven foot eight hundred pound robot while they had to smash another robot with there robot. The show is at the semi finals of the tournament so if you jump in now you will be seeing the best robots fighting and not some of the early ones that were made more for aesthetics. And if you do watch just remember when you see these robots smash each other and think "they are just bumping each other," that they are metal giants using hydraulic actuators to send steal fists at each other. If you still think it's corny I think you should stand in from of one of these robots and take a punch.

Big Brother Canada Recap: Episode 21

Big Brother Canada Recap

Beast Coast Breakdown

With the last episode ending halfway through the Head of Household competition leaving the power of the house up in the air. Who is going to win the HoH and who will they nominate out of the possible four remaining players? Will the main alliance break down and fall a part leaving an opening for Peter to make it even further in the game?
Head of Household
(The HoH has all the power in the house.)

Jillian

Jillian ended up winning the HoH competition at the strt of this episode. She won it pretty easily, securing her third win of the season and if you add that to Emmet's two, you have the strongest alliance in Big Brother Canada history. After the crazy celebration that had her looking like Brock Lesner after his first win in the UFC, she gathered everyone up to go check out her new(third) HoH bedroom. Emmet and her were the only ones that were excited all the other house guests were quite tired of seeing her win so they all seemed pretty annoyed. Before the nominations she discussed game play with Emmet and I think they are planning to get Peter out but have a worry that Andrew might be more of a threat.

Nominees
(The two players currently nominated for eviction.)

Peter - The last member of the Shield(or The S.H.I.E.L.D.) is the main target of Beast Coast but he is very good at manipulating people and could very likely safe himself.

Andrew - One of my early favorites to win the whole thing. He has been on the block and the brink of elimination one time before and could be a juicy pick for a backdooring if he doesn't win the Veto.

Have/Have Not Competition
(The Have/Have Not competition decides who will be haves and who will eat slop and sleep in a clown infested, super orange bedroom.)

Competition: Rub a Dub Dub

The Have/Have Not reward competition saw Peter and Emmet team up against Talla and Andrew for a possibility to be the Haves of the week. The main goal was to scrub your team mate with a piece of soap that had a key in the middle. When the player scrubbed the bar of soap enough so that the key would come out, you had to take the key and unlock a box in order to get their reward. The winners didn't only get to be Haves they also earned a special dinner and the privilege to choose one luxury item a day for Big Brother to bring into the house. The losers weren't only Have Nots this week they also got a couple punishments. They had to be the servants to the Haves, do laundry, dishes and had to do whatever the Haves asked them to do. On top of that they also had to wake up an hour before everyone and watch ten minutes of Emmet and Jillian making out on the big screen.

Winners: Peter & Emmet
Losers: Talla & Andrew

Random Thoughts
(Here are some of my random thoughts.)

- Andrew is the sneakiest, most deceptive player in the game but is doing it so stealthily that no one has even noticed.

- Jillian is the most overrated people in this game. She has one three HoH's but one of those was because she was up against Topaz. She also has never given anyone one a straight answer and has broke her promise more than once, which is never good when it comes to jury votes.

- Angry Talla strikes again and doesn't make just a quick appearance, she stayed almost the whole episode. She also tried to say "pawn" but instead said "pond."

- The fake nomination speeches are starting to get on my nerves. Alec's were never funny, Jillian's "too, too cute" line was sickening and Emmet saying Talla was too annoying(although hilarious and true) just caused a whole bunch of unneeded friction.

Running Cast Grade: C+
(Last Episode: C)
(Grading the cast on an episode to episode basis.)

Angry Talla saved this episode. She made it more exciting, built the tension and actually yelled at every one for no reason, which is always fun. Since she isn't one of the nominees I can only hope that Angry Talla will be back again next week. Who else comes back? Who will Canada vote back from the Jury house? hopefully whoever it is brings celebratory booze to calm Angry Talla down.

Aliens, Killers, and The Battle Rounds

1. The Voice (NBC 8/7c)

My favorite part of the Voice every year are the Battle Rounds and with the clips we got at the end of last weeks episode I am so much more excited. Not only did it look like there were some great match ups, the assistant coaches look amazing (Pharell is one of the assistants), and Usher and Shakira both look like a lot tougher then Cee Lo or Christian. I can't wait.

2. Bates Motel (A&E 10/9c)

With Norma freshly out of jail and all of the men in her life seemingly turning away from her I can only imagine that she will turn to the offensive. Will someone die? Most Likely. Will it be because of Norma? Definitely. Who will end up dead? The Sheriff, or the Deputy? (Sound like a Bob Marley song.)

3. Defiance (Syfy 9/8c)

After an Alien invasion the surviving humans create a settlement in St Louis(now know as Defiance) in a kind of old western town. The main premise of this new show is a small town populated by humans and aliens that are all going to fight against the oppressive aliens trying to take the whole world over. I seems like it could be a decent show and with Syfy doing pretty bad lately they need something to bring their stock up.
