Blake is Building a Country Army

With the battle rounds starting I am going to be taking a few different things into consideration. I will be looking at the choices of battle contestants, the picks of the winners, whether any of the coaches stole anyone and especially which adviser is the coolest.

Adam easily has the most talent on his team and that is proven by the fact that one of the best singers on his team hasn't even been shown on the show for more then a couple seconds. Besides my love for Amy Whitcomb, Adam picked Midas Whale to move on and had an easy decision when he kept Sarah Simmons over Duncan Kamakana. Out of all eight of his singers he has five that are arguably the best singers in this competition. It looks like it will come down to which coach uses their artists the best in the next round.

Blake had pretty much secured the best country singers last week and surprised no one by bohlstering his stable a little more. He picked Justin Rivers and Savannah Berry and stole the pop/country Luke Edgemon. Add those three to Holly Tucker, The Swan Bros, Danielle Bradbury and Grace Askew and you have a touring lineup for any country music festival.

Usher drops a spot this week only because it looks like Blake has put together a better team of eight. He made great picks in Ryan Innes and Michelle Chamuel but kind of surprised me when he took Vedo over Jessica Childress. His wasted one of his steals on probably the weakest artist that was left and got lucky when Shakira picked Mary Miranda instead of the obviously better Cathia.

We got a lot of Battles from Shakira's team this week and I'll tell you what, it doesn't look to good going forward for her chances of winning. She made a huge mistake taking Monique Abbadie over Luke Edgemon and a not-so-big but still confusing choice of Mary Miranda over Cathia. Brandon Roush and Kris Thomas were the obvious choices, if only because of who they were up against. The best case for Shakira to win is one of the artists she stole from Adam.

Adam gets the first spot again this week because he kept his strongest singers and he stole the best singer available(besides Karina Iglesias). He had the best battle out of any of the teams (Judith vs Karina) and he probably has the adviser with best singing voice. If Adam can keep picking the best pairings and end up stealing another great artist he can position himself in a great place to win the whole season.

Usher's team is easily the most underrated. The Jeff Lewis vs Josiah Hawley battle could make a case for second best battle round of the first week (your trophy is in the mail). He didn't steal any artists but that might be the best thing for him considering the talent that was let go. The only downfall of the first week of battle rounds was that he picked Jess Kellner over Taylor Beckham but he has Pharell as an adviser so he gets a pass on that one.

Blake has the hardest decision so far, when he had to pick between Caroline Glasser and Danielle Bradbury and although he may have picked the better singer of that specific song I think he might have made a huge mistake in the long run. He still has Holly Tucker (front runner) and the Swan Brothers (incredible harmonies), plus he stole Taylor Beckham from Usher and could possibly end up with her in the next round.

I thought about moving Shakira up to number three but the only thing good about her first two days of battle rounds was that she got the second and third best singer to have lost. Of the twelve battle rounds we were able to see (even the ones that weren't shown in full) there were maybe four artists that where worth stealing and Shakira ended up with two of them. Now when we get to see some of the best battles her steals will have all been used up. It's not looking too good for Shakira this year.

Adam Secures the Best Team for the Battle Rounds

In this post I will be ranking the teams on an episode to episode basis. I will be taking into consideration the picks, the coaches decision, tactics and who has a pet bird with them. 


1. Team Adam

Already on his team: Judith Hill, Midas Whale, Sarah Simmons, Karina Iglesias, Warren Stone, Duncan Kamakana, Patrick Dodd, Agina Alvarez

Newest additions: Michael Austin, Sasha Allen, Amy Whitcomb, Amber Carrington

Adam doesn't just have a great mix of different artists he arguably has the best individual singers of all the coaches (Judith Hill, Sasha Allen, Patrick Dodd, Amy Whitcomb). In the last two episodes of the blind auditions he grabbed up two good country singers in Michael Austin and Amber Carrington, and one of the best R&B singers I've seen in Sasha Allen. But the biggest surprise was that Adam picked up the former 'Sing-Off' contestant, Amy Whitcomb (she wasn't shown on the show) with what looked like a solo turn around. I cant wait to see her perform in the battle rounds and since we didn't see her on the show her is a clip of her on the Sing-Off.

Usher steals the second place away from Blake this week simply because of his last two picks. His first two picks were good, Jeff Lewis sang an acoustic version of one of Ushers songs and Jamila Thompson (not shown on TV) seems like a perfect fit for him but Jeff Innes and Jessica Childress were easily his best picks of the season. Jeff Innes is a big guy that is full of soul and a beard to die for, while Jessica Childress (the very last pick) killed her audition and had the three other judges upset that they didn't have a spot left for her.

3. Team Blake

Blake is back on his search for "unique" voices and that is exactly what he got. Caroline Glaser, Grace Askew, and Jaqui Sandell all had such good voices but were not what most would call traditional. Caroline had a quiet confidence, Grace had a chrome guitar swag about her that is not often seen on this show and Jaqui is a tattooed rock star that Blake could not go wrong with. His two last spots were filled with people that we didn't get to see because the show would rather show us people who didn't make it. Blake has a team that is well built but I don't see him getting that third win.

4. Team Shakira

It seems fitting that Shakira is sitting in Cee Lo's old chair because she is doing about as good a job as he did in the first three seasons. She proved again that she can only get people who are super fans or if she is the only one to turn around. Her best bet to win the competition and her last pick up, Luke Edgemon, chose her over Usher (which was a huge surprise) is arguably the best male singer in this competition and since only one artist can win it for their coach Shakira still has a chance. Even if that chance is extremely small.

Blake Shelton Takes The Lead

In this post I will be ranking the teams on an episode to episode basis. I will be taking into consideration the picks, the coaches decision, tactics and who has a pet bird with them.

1. Team Blake

Already on his team: The Morgan Twins, Danielle Bradbury, Christian Porter, Holly Tucker, The Swan Brothers

We only got to see one of the two artists that Blake picked this episode (Trevor Davies was not shown). That artists was Savannah Berry the country singer with the huge voice. Blake is just beating Adam right now because of the country superstars Blake has and he might have a chance to win his third season if he keeps this up.

2. Team Adam

Already on this team: Judith Hill, Midas Whale, Sarah Simmons, Karina Iglesias, Warren Stone, Duncan Kamakana

Adam picked up two artists,m one being a returnee from last season (Agina Alvarez was not shown). The best performer that he picked up this episode was Patrick Dodd, the dread locked Tennessean who sang and rocked 'Walking in Memphis.' Adam will need to make the right choices for pairings in the battle rounds if he wants to challenge Blake.

Usher was the only one who turned for Orlando Dixon and I'm curious as to why, he even makes a point to tell Orlando that he is going to push him really hard. The best pick up for Usher though, was the former model Audrey Karrasch. He has decided not turn for country artists and is having to turn around solo to attract some people so they don't get stolen by Blake or Adam.

Shakira was the only one who turned for Workaholic lookalike, Brandon Roush. I am not against that pick but the only way she can get artists is to be the only one to turn or hope they love her more than the other coaches. She also picked up C.Perkins (wasn't shown) and seem to be the only one to turn for him as well. Shakira has only one shot and that's she needs to at least get one amazing singer who she could ride to the championship.

Adam Gets A Country Singer

In this post I will be ranking the teams on an episode to episode basis. I will be taking into consideration the picks, the coaches decision, tactics and who has a pet bird with them.

1. Team Adam

Adam ended up with three new artists after this episode. He stole Karina Iglesias from Shakira and also stole country singer Warren Stone right out from under Blake (and wouldn't let Blake hear the end of it). Duncan Kamakana, one of the artist we didn't see on the episode, has his own YouTube page and is pretty good but I wonder how he is going to do in the battle rounds.

Best Performance: Warren Stone

2. Team Blake

Already on his team: The Morgan Twins, Danielle Bradbury, Christian Porter

After an episode where Blake didn't pick anyone up, he ended this episode with a country superstar and a duo good ol' country boys. Holly Tucker, the best performance of the night, had all four judges turn but seemed to be choosing Blake even before she started to sing. The country duo, The Swan Brothers, killed it and have wound up with the perfect coach for them but if history proves anything duo's don't usually make it past the battle rounds.

3. Team Usher

Usher is having a real hard time so far, he cant' get any of the country stars from Blake and he is nowhere near Adam when it comes to selling themselves to people. Even if that is the case Usher picked up three artists, Michelle Chamuel and Taylor Beckham were pretty great and he might have been higher in the rankings if I knew anything about his third pick, Chelsea M. (She wasn't shown on the show.) Usher is quietly building and pop power house.

4. Team Shakira

Shakira is the only coach that has had to rely on being the only one to turn in order to get the talent. She turned by herself for Garrett Gardener and J'Sun (wasn't shown on the show) and only got Latin singer Monique Abbadie because she ended up being a Shakira super fan, even telling her that she is her inspiration. Shakira needs to steal a few amazing singers if she wants a chance to beat Adam or Blake.

If God Was One Of Us He'd Watch The Voice

In this post I will be ranking the teams on an episode to episode basis. I will be taking into consideration the picks, the coaches decision, tactics and who has a pet bird with them.

1. Team Adam

After stealing the best performer of the first episode Adam got two artists this time around. He got the folk duo, Midas Whale, and ended up stealing the best performer of this episode too. Sarah Simmons was the final performer of the episode and belted out 'What if God was one of us?' Add those two to Judith Hill and Adam has the best team early on in this season of the Voice.

Best Performance: Sarah Simmons

2. Team Shakira

After a weak start on the first episode Shakira picked up two artists that have helped move her up in the meaningless rankings. Tawnya Reynolds killed a a country song and chose to go with Shakira while Cathia spoke to her by singing a Spanish song. Shakira is easily building the most unique team of the competition right now.

Best Performance: Cathia

3. Team Blake

Blake didn't actually pick up any artists but he still has one of the strongest teams so far and as long as he has the twins he wont ever be in fourth place.

4. Team Usher

Usher only added one member and he was probably the least memorable contestant so far. Josiah Hawley is a bro with a guitar and pairing him with Usher is strange but could be good in the long run. Usher needs to step up his negotiating or he will fall behind Adam and Blake even more and Shakira might end up crushing the other newbie coach.
