Big Brother Canada Recap: Episode 10

Big Brother Canada Recap

Toms Bridges Are Burning

Last episode we saw Gary earn the HoH after we found out Emmet cheated in the last HoH competition. Gary then made one of the biggest moves of the season by nominating Tom and Liza, one of the biggest showmances in the house. Will Tom win the Power of Veto and save himself?

Power of Veto
(Winning the Power of Veto means you can change one of the nominations.)

Competition: Big Brother Bonspiel

Players: Gary, Tom, Liza, Alec, AJ, and Jillian
Each player was partnered with one of the house guests that wasn't participating. The players would be put head to head in an elimination curling game where the last man standing would win Veto. The curling rocks ended up being giant blocks of ice that the non-competing players would sit on while the players tried to slide the closest to the black line. Tom, Alec and AJ all one there first round, Alec then beat Tom and AJ couldn't punch the I've block farther than Alec.
Winner: Alec

Ceremony

Alec decided not to use the Power of Veto so that he could gain some trust with Gary and his friends.

Nominees
(The two players currently nominated for eviction.)

Tom - Tom has been talking like there is no way he can go home and before the PoV he continually told Liza that once he came off the block he would campaign to keep her safe. The only problem with that plan is that he didn't win the PoV and he ended the episode as the main target to go home.

Liza - She was on the brink of being eliminated and if it wasn't for Tom being an idiot she would be going home.

Showmance/Alliance Update
(Here's an update on all the alliances in the house.)
- Tom and Liza will be the first showmance split up.

- AJ and Andrew are now the Old Guys Alliance

- The Quattro is done and I wonder if the Alec and Peter turn on Emmet next.

Mini Power Rankings
(A quick rankings of the top players in the house.)

3. Suzette - She went from being public enemy number one to completely flying under the radar and might make it pretty far if the target stays off her.

2. Alec- Winner of the PoV competition and one of the main culprits in the plan to get tom out.

1. Gary - Gary is easily the most powerful player in the game right now and depending on what happens during double eviction night he could be in a lot of trouble.

Random Thoughts
(Here are some of my random thoughts.)

- Tom is seriously a poor loser and if he is sent home expect some insults to be hurled.

- Emmet orchestrated Tom's eviction and he doesn't even realize it.

- The pedicure section of the show was super creepy.

Running Cast Grade: B
(Last Episode: B-)
(Grading the cast on an episode to episode basis.)

With Tom blowing up, Gary's big move and the constant changing of alliances this season is starting to heat up. When the news comes out that Tom told Liza about the Quattro you can expect a lot more confrontation and isn't that all we really want from this show?

Survivor Power Rankings (Week 6)

Survivor Power Rankings

A Tribe Switch Changes Everything

Since the game is rolling and people are being sent home left and right, I've decided to knock the Power Rankings down to five spots and I'm getting rid of the No Air Time All Star since each tribe has 7 members and they will all likely get some amount of air time. Now to the Power Rankings.

1. Gota Tribe
(Last Week: N/A)

I have chosen to lump the tribe together not only because they didn't do much individually that would make me think to separate them, but also because they dominated the immunity challenge, are all fit, young adults (except Sherrie), and two of their members have hidden immunity idols. Unless they start throwing competitions to get people out I don't see them losing for a while.

2. Tribe Switch
(Last Week: N/A)

The switching up of tribes is always one of the best part of any Survivor season. Not only does is mess with everyone's plans but if you're lucky like the Gota tribe you end up losing dead weight and gaining able, active bodies. And the smashing egg on yourself is always fun to see.

3. Phillip (Bikal)
(Last Week: #2)

He was easily the best player on his tribe. He was the most active in the immunity challenge going out more than anyone else eevn though he is the oldest competitor. He intimidated Michael and Matt into voting for Julia when the three fans probably could have turned Corrine against Phillip and gotten him out. On top of that he was one of the people who decided to get rid of Matt.

4. Julia (Bikal)
(Last Week: N/A)

Julia has never gotten that amount of air time since the season began. Usually the only you saw her was in the opening credits. This week however she was on the rink of elimination and some how ended up staying. I don't think she did much to stay, it was more like she got extremely lucky that the Favorites didn't decide that the weakest link had to go. So don't worry you have another week, at least, of asking yourself if she's been on the whole season.

5. Matt (Bikal)
(Last Week: N/A)

Matt was a really good sport, in his exit interview, considering he had just been blind sided and will be spending the rest of the season watching from home. The only thing I think Matt will be remembered for is his beard.

Worst of the Week

Corrine

You have to really be horrible to earn Worst of the Week when the eliminated contestant was some out of it he didn't realize he was going home, and Corrine was exactly that. She was useless in the challenge and continuously said things like "I've always wanted to play with a gay." I mean, come on, who says things like that? That wasn't the only time she said something ridiculous, later she would go on to say "at least the gay is staying." it's one thing to say you like gay people but to refer to them as 'the gays' or 'a gay' is downright disgusting. It's as if you were refering to them as animals with one characteristic. The craziest thing though is that she didn't just leave it in her individual interviews she brought out 'a gay' right in front of Michael at tribal council. Michael probably should have got the #1 spot just for not smacking her in the back of the head.

Tonight's Top Three on TV

Troy and Abed and Archer and Meredith Grey on a Thursday

1. Archer (FX 10/9c)

This season has had some of the best episodes in the four seasons it's been on the air and last week was easily one of them. This week Lana and Archer are sent to Morocco to extract an agent, little do they know the agent walks on all fours and likes to piss outside, and I'm not talking about Lindsey Lohan.

2. Community (NBC 8/7c)

Last weeks Changnesia episode was kind of a let down. I wasn't surprised to see that Chang is just fooling everybody and I would be surprised if the guy he was talking to on the phone was the dean of the air conditioning college, John Goodman. This week it looks like the group is trying to help the college land a rich student that if he were to enroll would add a bunch of money to the school. Let's go Greendale!

3. Grey's Anatomy (ABC 9/8c)

Grey's makes its first appearance in the TTTV because of a slow night in the TV world but also because the Jackson is the boss story line is getting good. You have a whole bunch of extremely experienced and talented having to listen to the young upstart. It is a great dynamic. This week we find out if Dr. Shepard can handle a pregnant wife (my guess is yes) and if the baby is a boy, girl or antelope (hoping for antelope). The only thing that could stop this show is if Independence Day aliens came to earth and blew up the hospital.

My NCAA March Madness Bracket

March Madness Bracket

Every year I partake in countless online NCAA March Madness pools. On every one of the brackets I fill out there are usually little differences so that I have at least one bracket that doesn't bust. With all that said I always have a main copy, that I call the Master Copy. It is  usually the bracket I am most confident with (or the first one I filled out) because I went with my gut instinct (usually my gut knows what it's doing). So for your pleasure (maybe) here is that copy. I would tell you to use my picks with discretion because I'm not a huge college basketball fan but then again they are all right so what's the point.

Psychics, Spies And Over Achievers

1. Psych (USA Network 10/9c)

Last week we saw Gus and Shawn discover Big Show. We take a little trip to Mexico so that Shawn and Gus can save Shawn's dad and also so Shawn can butcher a whole bunch of the Mexican language, jes?

2. The Americans (FX 10/9c)

The first season of this spy drama has only gotten better as its gone along. It got even better when Margo Martindale joined the cast and kidnapped the main couple. I can't wait to see how Kerri Russell's character will end her's and Margo's relationship.

3. Workaholics (Comedy Central 10/9c)

It looks like this week the braj's are in the future and have to deal with Alice and her orientation. What that is, we wont know until we watch the episode but if Adam has anything to do with it, it will probably involve sex of some sort.

Tonight's Top Three on TV

Raylan Givens, Gordon Ramsay and Louie Anderson...

1. Justified (FX 10/9c)

Raylan found out who Drew Thompson was, tracked him down (thanks to Johnny Crowder) and now has him in custody. The only problem is that Raylan still has to transfer him, but Boyd and his mafia colleagues still want Drew dead. Which mean's this episode is going to be action packed and hopefully Raylan gets too shoot people (maybe that guy who was on 'Yes, Dear'.

2. Hell's Kitchen (Fox 8/7c)

The first week is always the most entertaining because you get to pick your favorite contestants and see how they will work together this season. It looks like both teams are going to have a lot of trouble working together, but if that means Gordon Ramsay gets to berate more of them, I'm in.

3. Splash (ABC 8/7c)

This is a reality show where (d-list) celebrities are gong to be diving against one and other. The only reason I'm even putting this on the list is because I'm excited to see Louis Anderson jump into a pool headfirst.

Big Brother Canada Recap: Episode 9

Big Brother Canada Recap

The Power In The House Has Shifted

After an episode where the Quattro, The Shield, Liza and her Men, and the Ram and Bull were all safe, this episode changed the pace a little. A little controversy caused a major power shift in the house and the many alliances between the more "popular" people in the house should be quiet scared.

Head of Household
(The HoH has all the power in the house.)

Emmet

Emmet won the bees knees competition on the last episode. The only problem with his win was that he and four other people cheated. So Emmet was removed from the HoH and him and the other four cheaters became Have Nots and they were not able to participate in the make up challenge.

Competition: Remember That

The competition that was supposed to be the Have/Have Nots competition became the Head of Household competition to replace Emmet after the cheating incident. The competition was basically a true or  false competition with the questions referring to a parade of Irish people(they probably weren't Irish) who came through the house for St Patrick's Day. The competition came down to a tie breaker between Suzette, AJ, and Gary.

Winner: Gary

Nominees
(The two players currently nominated for eviction.)

Tom - Gary is putting Tom in the same position that Tom put Gary in last week. He promised Tom that if he won the Veto he would remove him from the block.

Liza - She was told that she is nominated because she is an extremely good social game player, but she is really nominated because she is shady and Gary recognizes that.

WTF: Gary
(Things I just can't explain.)

Gary's outfits have become increasingly interesting as the season goes on and last night's nomination ceremony outfit was easily one of his strangest.

Best Quotes
(Here are some of the best quotes from last nights episode.)

3. Tom - I think you should put her up. Send F****** Canada a Message. You F*** my boy over, I'm putting her up again.

2. Peter - He really is a great winner.

1. Liza - Emmet is a boy I can't control.

Random Thoughts
(Grading the cast on an episode to episode basis.)

- Liza's definition of "reassure Tom" is to straddle him.

- Big Brother Canada seems to be doling out a lot of punishment this year. I don't remember half as many punishments on the US version.

- Gary's HoH win was great, especially the celebration.

- Tom thinking Gary would keep him safe is delusional.

- Gary's HoH room suited him well.

- The graphics during the HoH competition were really well done. I was quiet surprised.

Running Cast Grade: B+
(Last Episode: B)
(Grading the cast on an episode to episode basis.)

The cast has not only been lacking in the controversy, everyone has been making safe moves so far. This week was a little different, there was cheating, a switch in power and a pretty big move. All that plus the fact the Gary has definitely started a war with Tom, I am expecting this season to get a lot better real quick.
